Friday 15 September The idea is that a single website owned and operated by the biggest airline, easyJet is now able to sell connecting flights on other carriers. No smiling check-in agent happy to tag your bag straight through to your final destination, and hand you boarding passes for both your short-haul flight and the long-haul connection. Instead, you will have been assumed to have checked in online and printed out or saved to your phone the boarding passes.
Instead, passengers will need to wait around for their bags at the carousel after the first flight and take it to the GatwickConnects desk. But if you are prepared to accept those conditions, the tie-up promises prospective rewards that are currently the preserve of the network carrier — such as a straightforward quote for the whole journey, rather than having to juggle between screens as you seek to connect from Belfast to Buenos Aires or Edinburgh to Edmonton.

This is especially true in the field of aerospace. Jun 20, , Even as most companies are experimenting on how bots can be employed to make their customer interface easier, Ramco Systems is focusing on the lucrative enterprise side of these applications that can be used to run automated and repetitive tasks. The Chennai-based company has created 22 bots related to human resources-related functions and another dozen for the aviation industry.
Bots are becoming increasingly popular with consumer-facing companies, which use them for basic customer-service functions. The company provides enterprise software primarily to the HR, aviation and logistics industries. The HR bots are already being used by Ramco Systems internally as well as by some clients. The HR bots are being integrated with the existing software platform that the company sells.
The bots work like most consumer interface chat bots, responding to queries and helping in tasks like checking your leave status and calendar before applying for leave, as well as giving you packing tips based on the predicted weather before you leave for the holiday. At the same time, there is enough intelligence built into them which enables them to offer suggestions and learn based on past experiences, which can be valuable, especially in any kind of advisory role.
On the aviation side, the bots have been created as per the initial needs expressed by Air France and are currently being tested by the airline. So the bot might suggest to a mechanic working on some repairs that in the past other people have used a particular tool in that situation.

Dickinson is meeting with the Welsh Government in early April to try to hammer out a solution. We sawed it virtually in half and replaced the entire centre section. We spent two years getting Easyjet and unfortunately they left. Norwegian Airlines for example is planning to recruit 2, pilots in the next two years. Dickinson is in discussions with Norwegian about training the new pilots, and is hoping to persuade them to move some of the maintenance and repair work from Budapest to St Athan too.
He reckons that flying training in the UK with its cloudy skies and inclement weather produces better pilots than schools in sunnier climates. Your job as an airline pilot is to deliver them safely and be invisible. Western Mail Dickinson has said he sees Brexit as offering opportunities rather than threats, and he is sanguine about its effects on his business and aviation in Britain. He points out there are countries outside the EU that have very healthy aviation industries, such as Norway and Iceland.
