Today, luckily, was one of the good days. Murphy Gallagher grinned from ear to ear as he tried to run from his niece, Rowan. She was eleven now and getting pretty fast, but he was faster. It was always more entertaining when she caught him and took him to her lair. As he was the evil dragon to her warrior princess, it only made sense. My mighty sword that shall slay the dragon! Sure, his brothers Owen and Jake were decent uncles, as well, but he would always be the best. Jake was the artistic one, Owen the type-A, Graham the grumpy one, and Murphy was the fun one. He had to play his part and make sure Rowan had the time of her life.

Email Shares 14 A few months ago I had a discussion with Brian Joseph in the comments section of his blog, Babbling Books , about violence and gender. He always has lots of great discussions going on in the comments. Essentially, the discussion was about whether men are inherently more violent than women or whether male violence is culturally driven. The Blank Slate is a long, dense book and since my stack of review books and TBR list seem to never stop growing, I decided to compromise.
While the book did not lead me to any definitive answers to my myriad questions about the role of nature vs. Still, it is consistent with the parts I did read. A False Dichotomy Pinker outlines the two primary schools of thought in feminism: I absolutely believe that there is a pervasive system of male dominance, consciously and unconsciously enforced, that prevents women from experiencing the same level of physical, sexual, and economic freedom that men enjoy.
For one practical example of this, read Daring to Drive by Manal al-Sharif. There are clearly many biological differences between men and women aside from the obvious matter of genitalia. In terms of abilities, men and women have the same average IQ scores, but women tend to cluster in the middle, whereas men are more likely to have extremely high or extremely low scores.

A stunningly exciting and dramatic story set in the wilds of the Welsh mountains, where the brave and beautiful Merry Owen, the Longbow girl, travels back in time to the autocratic kingdom of King Henry VIII to save her ancestors. Steeped in history, ancient lore and crackling with tension between the central characters Merry and James, Longbow girl explores the themes of who we are and who we can become when fighting for those we love and for our very lives. Are we prisoners of our history or can we break free?
I have always wanted to read a book set in Wales, so when Longbow Girl was recommended I jumped at the chance to read it. I really enjoyed the story; it has enjoyable characters, with an engaging plot and was very well written.
The premise of the novella length storylines is the festival of The Gathering- a speed dating (of sorts) where marked human females (who have not been claimed by their thirtieth birthday) are commanded to present themselves as potential mates for Alpha pairs.
You will probably try many of the standard approaches to improve the overall quality but even though there may be some improvement, it may not always be as fast or as consistent as you would like. You may also try allocating coaches to teams and get them to go through a random selection of their stories and provide the BAs with feedback. Then an idea came to me — why not take the speed dating concept often used for feedback and adapt it for story reviewing?
So how does it work? Let me take you through it. Find 2 BAs from the team that will run with the prep and the logistics for the event. These 2 serve as the facilitators and timers. Prep the BAs that they need to prepare a bunch of their stories that they plan to have reviewed. Explain the rules of engagement. The goal of the session is to provide feedback to each other on the quality instead of the specific content of the user stories.
Feedback on the presentation of the story is also recommended as an important aspect of a BAs role is communication. Everyone will be given 20 minutes with their current pair. This will be divided into 2 parts of 10 minutes each.

By Christy Duke on Jul 16, I adored Theodore from the start and he and Wesley were awesome together. Their hijinks in trying to protect and save the egg were hilarious and I really loved every minute! Great way to start the series! By ireadtoomuch on Jun 13, Very cute short story. I could read more of this couple. Theodore is in San Diego, looking for love, at a penguin shifter convention. Said convention doesn’t cater for Theodore though, but he gets roped into speed dating and ends up in front of Wesley, who is much more to Theodore tastes than the ladies!

Classic Alice is divided into narrative arcs that correspond with the books main character Alice is reading, with overarching storylines and character development running throughout. She decides to start living her life according to the actions of characters in classic novels, and her film student friend Andrew makes a vlog-style documentary about it.
In Crime and Punishment, Alice steals a test, but before she can turn herself in and deal with the consequences, Andrew takes responsibility for her actions and uses his father’s money and influence to avoid punishment. This causes a rift between Andrew and Alice, who only lets him continue with the project when he promises to stop interfering with her actions. In Pygmalion, Alice makes over nerdy student Ewan McBay and dates him briefly, but he quickly abandons her in his quest for power and popularity.
She reacts, in “The Butterfly,” by enlisting her cousin Reagan to help her date more and trying to meet men at events like a football game and speed dating. Ewan returns in Macbeth, when he uses his new social capital to oust the student government president and try to seize power himself. Alice runs against him and wins, but not before Ewan’s dirty campaign tactics hurt the people she cares about.
Meanwhile, Andrew’s girlfriend, jealous of the time he’s spending with Alice, gives him an ultimatum, and he breaks up with her rather than leave the project. Alice recovers from the stress of the election in Rip van Winkle, when she and Andrew ignore school for a week in favor of drinking and bowling. Alice has a crisis of confidence about her writing, and Andrew secretly submits one of her stories to literary magazines.
